Position Summary

The experienced Senior Network Engineer will work onshore in Aberdeen and at offshore locations. A strong background in network technologies is required. The Senior Network Engineer will work predominantly with Project Managers, clients and globally dispersed team members to lead technical design and deliver projects from initial concept through to client handover. Willingness to perform physical installations, testing and fault diagnosis is mandatory as is comprehensive project documentation.

Qualifications

BOSIET (Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training) Certification
MIST (Minimum Industry Safety Training) Certification
Project commissioning experience and a good working knowledge of infrastructure implemented in offshore and onshore facilities
Strong exposure in the delivery of highly scalable, economically feasible and high performing systems and networks, within a functional delivery matrix of Critical Telecoms, Enterprise and Major Project environments
Extensive experience in data communications and network infrastructure solutions with extensive experience of Technical Assurance within an EPC environment in the Oil and Gas industry, and preferably within the Upstream Gas business
Expert knowledge of Edge, Access, Distribution and Transmission layers
Basic working knowledge of Versa SD-WAN Technology and configurations
Deep understanding of General Practices and Standard for data communication network infrastructure
Certification and hand-on experience in the following: Cisco IPT, WAN and LAN routing protocols (EIGRP, IGRP, BGP, HSRP, OSPF); Ethernet switch technologies (spanning tree (STP/RSTP); Wireless network technologies: 802.11/ABGN, Cisco & Aruba WLC and access points; Versa technology; Network authentication protocols and Network monitoring protocols. Design and implementation SD-WAN and QoS
Basic working knowledge of Server infrastructure both physical and virtual (e.g. VMware)
Proficient in utilizing network packet sniffers as needed to analyze and troubleshoot network traffic effectively

Additional Information

Role requires engineer to be within daily commuting distance to Dyce, Aberdeen
Ability to travel locally, UK, overseas and offshore
Role will offer a combination of home, office and offshore working
