Summary

What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for an exciting teacher to start or further their career with us. S/he will need to have a good sense of humour and a commitment to working with others. Crucially, s/he will have a passion for children’s learning and very good classroom practice. We expect very strong IT skills to make the best use of the school’s strong ‘e-learning’ culture and infrastructure. (Our junior children have 1:1 Chromebook deployment to support learning in school and at home.) We would hope for additional skills or particular interests in the Music or Computing curricula, but this is not essential. In return, Farsley Farfield Primary School will do its very best to value and develop you professionally. We will provide a rewarding and supportive working environment.

What the school offers its staff

We are a large, popular ‘good’ school with an intake of 60 and approximately 440 pupils on roll (including up to 52 nursery children). We have two buildings (infant and junior) and huge school grounds. Our children are lovely and they work hard. We are proud of each of them and their varied achievements. We are a very inclusive school and a positive attitude and skills in meeting special educational needs will be needed. Our staff team is very hard-working, and they combine this with flair and imagination. We work closely in year-group teams and support and help each other.

Academic standards are generally good and sometimes very good. We have a rich and engaging curriculum and make huge use of educational visits with access to a number of minibuses. We have a large number and wide range of extra-curricular clubs

Our wonderful and extensive school grounds give plenty of scope for environmental work. We also have a unique ‘Farfield Farm’ resource including polytunnels, raised beds, chickens, pigs, bees, a farm classroom, and a 60-tree orchard. If you have particular strengths or interests in environmental education or horticulture, this would be a good place to work! In 2017 we were awarded the title of national Healthy School of the Year by the TES in recognition of our work around food production, cooking, healthy eating, sports and physical activity.

Please take a look at our website: www.farsleyfarfield.org.uk and pay particular attention to the wonderful class blogs for more information and to get a ‘feel’ for our school. We also welcome visits to the school at 4 pm on either Thursday 22nd May or Thursday 5th June - please email us if you would like to join this one-hour tour and chat.

The closing date for receipt of applications is 12 noon on 10th June 2025. If you are successful in the short-listing process, you will be invited to attend an interview during the week commencing 23rd June. You will be asked to deliver a short lesson as part of the final selection process.

Please note - an online search will be completed for all shortlisted candidates. The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory pre-employment health check.

Completed applications should be emailed to office@farsleyfarfield.org.uk. CVs will not be accepted.

We look forward to receiving your application.
