Permanent Post

The post holder is expected be a clinical expert in assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients who presented with complex gastrointestinal problem, nutritional deficiency and colorectal surgery. they are responsible and accountable for evidenced based practice for management of conditions for which the post holder will prescribe medicine as an Independent Non-Medical Prescriber.
The post holder is expected to work flexible in conjunction with different consultant firms and act as an SHO cover as well as team leader to support the multidisciplinary team including junior doctors and nurses. They will be involved in Clinical Governance, trust strategic agenda and participate in the multidisciplinary ward rounds, liaise and share information with different teams. The post holder is responsible for ensuring all care is delivered according to Trust policies and procedures, utilising clinical audit, research, supervision of practice and teaching, monitor and improve standards of care by efficient and effective use of resources.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced colorectal/lower GI senior band 7 nurse or nurse practitioner to join our very dynamic team of practitioners.

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and knowledgeable nurse practitioner to join our team within St Marks as a band 8a. Applicants must have physicalassessment and prescribing courses, looking to work in a supportive environment with world leading surgeons and clinicians to assist in the smooth running of both emergency and elective admissions. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- To be clinical expert in assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patient with colorectal conditions.

- To work with Consultant teams act as an autonomous practitioner and be
involved in the pre-assessment of patients and peri-operative Journey.

- To be proactive in identifying the sick patients, initiate treatment plan and
liaise with medical staff.

- To use expert colorectal specialist knowledge and advanced clinical
reasoning skills to provide support and advice to the consultant teams,
nursing staff and other healthcare staff and manage own case load of patients with highly complex conditions.

- To support the junior doctors on call rota and educate the junior doctors and nursing staff.

- To provide support for the enhanced recovery programme and ensure
patients receive high quality seamless care.

- The post holder will participate in clinical governance and attend the divisional mortality and mobility meeting.

- The post holder will be responsive to the critical care delivery team.
