Summary
Your new company
This multi-academy trust is based in Lancashire, specifically with schools in Chorley and Bolton and upon joining the trust, you will become an integral part of the IT team, reporting to the Trust IT Manager. The trust has an excellent reputation locally, known for the high standards present across the school, as well as the high-performing nature of pupils, and it is keen that the right individuals are appointed to facilitate this high performance. The IT team is a key part of the central support staff, with various projects planned for the summer and beyond, all focused around enhancing the technology provision available across the schools and further enhancing the teaching and learning.
Your new role
As an IT Technician, you will be based across 2 sites which are local to each other, providing IT support to staff and pupils in both secondary and primary settings. Your main responsibility will be to provide proactive on-site IT support, contributing to the wider IT strategy and development of IT across the trust. On a daily basis, this will involve responding to IT requests from end users, resolving these efficiently and also working closely with the IT Manager around any more complex issues, therefore enabling you to upskill yourself. The role will involve overseeing the helpdesk system, ensuring that end users are kept up to date on outstanding issues, reporting back on any recurring issues and ensuring a high level of service is provided at all times. You will also be responsible for asset management and procuring IT consumables, supporting the installation and building of new IT equipment as well as working with end users around the use of equipment. As the trust is looking to continuously improve IT across the schools, you will be involved in supporting upcoming projects which could relate to upgrades, new installations, testing of equipment, focusing on disaster recovery and also liaising with external suppliers. Please note this role will be on site 5 days a week, and you will also be required to travel between both sites, which are very local to each other.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful in securing this position, you will have proven IT support experience working in an on-site IT support setting, ideally with experience working in the education sector in a school, college or trust. You will be seeking a role where you will have the opportunity to further develop your skills, as well as be keen to get involved in projects allowing you to upskill and learn about new technologies and systems. You will have a proactive approach, as well as be able to provide a high level of customer service when working with end users, with strong communication skills. Experience working on M365 is also essential, as well as access to your own vehicle as you will need to drive between the 2 sites.
What you'll get in return
In return, you will receive a competitive annual salary of between £25,000 and £27,000 with additional pay for project work for the right candidate. You will also receive an attractive benefits package which includes a local government pension scheme, 28 days holiday plus bank, access to an employee wellbeing platform and various other benefits.
