We have fantastic opportunities right now to begin your hospitality journey at The Farmers in Ulverston, Cumbria.
The Farmers is an award-winning historic pub, wine bar and restaurant located in the heart of the bustling market and festival town. With a vibrant atmosphere, variety of services and friendly team it’s a great place to work.
We currently have opportunities for Apprentices both front of house and back of house.
If you have experience in Hospitality and/or Catering then that’s great, but it isn’t essential. What is needed is the willingness to learn whilst gaining practical skills and a commitment to achieving your Apprenticeship.
Do you love meeting new people? Would you enjoy providing the best customer service to enhance our guests experience? For our front of house operation, we are looking for 2 x Hospitality Team Member Apprentices to serve food and beverages to our customers, take payments, clear tables, replenish sauces etc. You will be given full training and complete a nationally recognised qualification working alongside our experienced team.
We also have an opportunity for a Chef Apprentice to join our team. Do you have a flair and passion for food? Would you love to develop your culinary talent? We will equip you with the practical skills and knowledge you’ll need to succeed in the fast-paced world of professional cooking. Your duties will include preparing, cooking and presenting food and correctly producing consistently high-quality dishes to meet specifications and the satisfaction of our customers. You’ll also take responsibility for the cleanliness, organisation and smooth running of the work area.
We are offering a 30-hour contact with flexible hours over a 7-day period (some late shifts may be required).
Scale of Apprentice Pay
First 12 week block ….…£8.00
Second 12 week block...£8.50 (dependant on satisfactory completion of first block)
Third 12 week block……£9.00 (dependant on satisfactory completion of second block)
Fourth 12 week block…£10.00 (dependant on satisfactory completion of third block)
On successful completion of the course it will enable the candidate to apply for a full-time position within the company with a strong chance of permanent employment.
This job is not 9-5 but has massive rewards and developmental opportunities are available for the right candidate.
Entry requirements
Maths and English at Level 2 (GCSE Grade 4) is desirable however we can provide Functional Skills as part of your development plan.
Experience within Hospitality or Catering is desirable.
Training to be Provided
You will be supported by an assessor throughout your apprenticeship.
As you progress through your apprenticeship your duties and responsibilities will alter as you develop the skills for a successful career in hospitality and catering.
Training will be a mix of face to face and online learning.
You will gain either Level 2 Hospitality Team Member Apprenticeship Qualification or Level 2 Production Chef Apprenticeship Qualification.
Functional Skills in Maths and English if required.
Things to consider
Hospitality roles can be physically demanding with prolonged periods of time on your feet. This is a full time role which will require flexibility with hours over a 7 day period (some late shifts maybe required - please check transport links). Contracted hours will be 30 pw. Candidates must be 17+ due to licensing laws. Start as soon as possible.
