Summary

The post holder will achieve this by
The post holder will be a Registered Physiotherapist responsible for providing a high standard
physiotherapy service for adults with learning disabilities (LD) and complex needs, in a
Community Learning Disability Team.
The post holder will support their peers and Locality Manager in ensuring that a high quality
service is delivered, providing consultation and training where required. They will be an
effective team member whilst working on their own initiative.
Key Responsibilities:
1. To provide appropriate highly specialised physiotherapy intervention and evaluate
outcomes for clients with learning disabilities.
2. To be responsible for organising and prioritising own and others workload in the day to
day allocation of work.
3. To accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload and organise this effectively
and efficiently with regard to clinical priorities and use of time. To assist more junior staff
in this.
4. To use specialist knowledge of learning disability to assist in service developments and
network by developing and maintaining relationships within and outside of the
organization with a view to advancing the quality of the physiotherapy service for clients
with LD and complex needs.
5. To lead on and provide advice to non-specialist staff and other specialists/professionals
within clinical field of physiotherapy for people with LD.
6. To have organisational knowledge relating to Trust protocols and procedures and adhere
to them,
7. To ensure effective risk management at team level by accident/incident reporting,
assessing and controlling risk and ensuring residual risks are added to the Trust register.
8. To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work, including the
management of clients in your care.
Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
High-Cost Area Supplement
This post also attracts payment for High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of basic salary, with a minimum of £4,551 and maximum of £5,735, pro rata for part time staff
