Summary

Job Purpose To provide nursing care to a variety of patients referred into the Treatment Room. The service provides routine planned Treatment Room services on an appointment only basis for patients requiring daily or alternate day treatment room services for wound care to patients able to attend a clinic. Patients are under the care of the Practice Nurse/ GP and require continuation of wound care. Patients may also be referred in following surgery and require out of hours wound checks. The candidate would be solely running the clinic from the Urgent Treatment Centre so would be expected to make clinical decision regarding patient care The Treatment Room provides wound care for complex wounds and non complex wounds, arterial leg ulcers, venous leg ulcers (for management prior to referral to specialist District Nursing services) cavity wounds or other wounds which may require a weekend dressing change. To provide holistic and individualised care to patients and carers, working both autonomously and as part of a team. Dimensions To provide nursing care across a diverse population for patients who are registered with an identified Nottingham City or Nottingham County GP. The service will be available on a Saturday and Sunday, including bank holidays and will be delivered during hours 8:00am to 16:00 hours to meet the needs of the population. To participate actively in the services training strategy, including mandatory training and essential training and any other training if identified necessary for this role. To participate in continuing professional development as relevant to maintain NMC registration requirements. To supervise and support student nurses on placements with the community nursing teams. Key Responsibilities Contribute to the public health agenda by raising awareness of health and well-being needs of individuals, by promoting prevention and early intervention. Plan, deliver and evaluate programmes of care to address peoples health and well-being needs. Deliver evidence-based care. Seek patient and carer feedback about the service Deliver a high standard of care to patients and carers. Contribute to the continual improvement of the service. Maintain professional standards as outlined in NMC code. Have an awareness of the Clinical Governance agenda and apply relevant risk management systems. Participate in relevant research and audit activity. Promote and maintain record keeping practice in line with the CityCare and NMC and Professional standards. Liaise with individuals and groups in a wide variety of settings and situations. Communication and escalation as required. Good communication and team working. To be responsible for the development of own knowledge and clinical practice and recognise ones own limitations. Act as a mentor to a variety of nursing students. Participate in the supervision framework as a supervisee and supervisor. Maintain a portfolio to demonstrate continuing professional development. Contribute to the implementation of service developments. Participate in the Personal Development process and take responsibility for reaching agreed development objectives. Attend mandatory training. Utilise enhanced knowledge and skills to promote continuous service improvements. Promote and maintain best practice that ensures the health safety and security of self, patients and colleagues in accordance with the policies procedures and guidelines of CityCare. Practice in accordance with Safeguarding legislation and guidelines.
