Summary


We are looking for applicants to join our forward thinking team.

The successful candidate will work alongside the trained Nursing staff and other members of the multi-disciplinary team to provide safe and effective care to children and young people aged 0-16 year (up to 18 for Young people with long term health needs or complex needs)

The children's unit includes a busy assessment unit, 2 in patient wards, a -HDU and a surgical/medical day unit and the Children's Area within the Emergency Department (ED).

Shifts are 12 hours rotation days/nights/weekends.

Future plans include a move to our new Children's Unit at the Bournemouth site alongside a new major Children's Emergency Department.

This post is being advertised as a Band 3, however applicants that do not meet the required care certificate competencies will initially be employed as a Band 2. Applicants who hold a care certificate accreditation will start in post at Band 3.

• You will need to be able to effectively communicate and have excellent documentation skills.
• The role includes taking observations, providing personal cares, supporting with nutrition requirements.
• You will have your care certificate or complete in role once started.

There is a planned move for this service anticipated during Novmember 2025, when thisrole and base of work will relocate to Bournemouth. Upon relocation of the role/service, excess mileage allowance / reimbursement will not apply, and any travel between the postholder’s home and work base will be classified as a commute. Any other changes unrelated to this, will be handled in line with Trust/National terms and conditions.

Please note if the role or service is relocated as part of a planned move, employees will not be eligible for excess mileage reimbursement. Travel from the postholder's home to the new work base will be considered a normal commute. Any other changes not related to this relocation will be managed according to the relevant Trust or National terms and conditions.
