This Fellow post will work alongside the two Consultants and Associate Specialist who sub-specialise in Paediatric Colorectal Surgery (Mr Jonathan Sutcliffe, Mr Chris Parsons and Ms Kelly Hoffman). The Fellow will support in a rolling 1:10 rota and be involved in covering all aspects of inpatient care including long day ward cover and night shifts. During the other weeks the post holder will be involved in other aspects of the paediatric surgical service, including attending outpatient clinics, theatres, MDTs, Ward rounds, outreach with Yorkshire region?? and performing audits and will also have exposure to other activities within the department. As the Colorectal Fellow there is an expectation you will have a role in the administrative running of the colorectal service. The post holder will support the on call rota equivalent to ST3+ (HST). This includes on call cover of the paediatric surgical ward on 42, surgical newborn unit, PICU, outliers, A&E and CAT units and theatres or clinics and all external referrals. This gives all trainees an opportunity to see the breadth of patients in paediatric surgery and manage them both in an elective setting and a sick child. There are several theatre lists both emergency and elective lists that happen on a daily basis and several clinics that happen daily. Trainees are encouraged to go to any of these as per their choice and availability. All trainees are allocated a clinical supervisor within the department and if they do not have an educational supervisor in their rotation are allocated one within the department as well. All trainees should attend the daily morning handover at 8:00- 8:30am and join the ward round if they are not going to either theatre or clinic.
