Summary

We are looking for a Personal Assistant for a young adult (female, age 17).
Location: Hutton, Lancashire

This would be someone to:

Provide companionship and engagement in meaningful discussions on Z’s interests; including birds of prey, literature and politics.
Assist with mobility and supporting Z in accessing activities as outlined in her EOTAS provision (e.g. swimming, horse riding).
Help Z navigate sensory sensitivities and environmental changes, ensuring she feels comfortable and secure.
Support Z to advocate for herself and recognise when she may need a break.
Connect and communicate with others supporting Z.
Ensure Z’s needs are respected, help navigate emotions and self-regulation, providing reassurance in stressful or overwhelming situations
Provide trauma-informed support and be able to engage in potentially difficult conversations.

About Z
Z is an intelligent and funny individual with a strong passion for birds of prey, politics, current affairs, literature, culture (especially Japanese culture), and video games. She is an avid reader of Sylvia Plath, Franz Kafka, and Osamu Dazai and enjoys in-depth discussions on a range of topics. She has a keen interest in physics and biology, particularly in relation to birds of prey, and aspires to work with birds of prey in the future. Z is a talented artist. She particularly enjoys drawing Manga/Anime characters and birds of prey. Z has four cats.

Person specification -
A gentle and nurturing person.
Trust and reliability are crucial.
Lived experience or awareness of Chronic Fatigue / Illness, Autism, PDA, low mental health and self - harm.
Clean driving licence (own transport essential). Able to drive a car and has or can get business insurance on their car.
More than two years experience working with Neurodivergent young people or adults. (For example Teaching, Counselling, Youth work or Mentoring experience)
Ability to trust the process and the young person and understand that it takes time to build trusting relationships.
Experience of working with young people and their families
Able to work in a non-hierarchical way
Flexibility on hours. It is 10 hours a week which will be in the hours of 1pm - 6pm, over 3 - 4 week days.
Excellent communicator (written, spoken and online) skills
Good time manager and organiser
Preferably Neurodivergent

Term time only (38 weeks of the year)
