Summary

Job Title: Prisoner Employment Support Coordinator
Location: HMP Northumberland
Contract Type: Fixed Term until 31st March 2026

Purpose of the Role:

The Prisoner Employment Support Coordinator will play a key role in supporting prisoners’ journey from reception to release by providing administrative assistance across various pathways aimed at reducing reoffending. This position is based within the Employment Hubs and reports directly to the Prison Employment Lead. The role focuses on ensuring prisoners are provided with opportunities that will enhance their employability and aid their reintegration into society.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support Employment Pathways: Help prepare prisoners for Release on Temporary Licence (ROTL) placements and secure employment on release. This includes delivering the Prisoner Banking and ID Programmes to ensure prisoners leave with relevant identification and a basic bank account.

  • Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate records of prisoners requiring ID or banking services, using approved templates. Manage inquiries and serve as the Single Point of Contact for applicants and programme partners.

  • Match Candidates to Opportunities: Collaborate with the Prison Employment Lead to match prisoners with appropriate job opportunities, ensuring timely processing of applications and a smooth transition to post-release employment.

  • Reporting & Records Management: Produce management information and regular reports, tracking prisoner progress and outcomes. Ensure records are up-to-date and stored securely.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with team members and colleagues from other areas to ensure efficient operations and support a seamless transition for prisoners.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Maintain up-to-date records and documentation in compliance with legal requirements.

  • Produce and review management reports to identify trends and patterns, assisting in improving service delivery.

  • Support the Prison Employment Lead by managing administrative functions efficiently and cost-effectively.

  • Monitor and oversee filing systems to ensure records are securely stored and easy to access.

  • Work closely with colleagues to maintain a safe and effective working environment within the prison.

Person Specification:

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Experience in a similar role or environment.

  • Proficient in relevant IT applications.

  • Demonstrated resilience and the ability to take full responsibility for planning and achieving outcomes.
