Summary
A part time vacancy has arisen to join a small team delivering youth and community development activities from the Council’s neighbourhood centres.
We are looking for people who are passionate about supporting young people reach their potential and supporting strong and inclusive communities.

Here’s what you’ll get up to:
This role of support worker will provide community development and support in activities delivered mainly to young people in the community, but also to the veterans and newly formed residents group, and any events held either in the centre or in the community.
Help plan and deliver the planned programme of activities for children and local community groups in the area such as trips to the beach, swimming, healthy cooking, arts and crafts, and group discussions
Assist with the set up and clear away of sessions
Empower local residents to create their own events and apply for funding
Promote activities and events within the community
Monitor and evaluate projects as required activities / performance and report back all relevant information appropriately and promptly
Work in partnership with voluntary and statutory sector agencies
The working pattern:
The post is 12 hours per week: Wed 12.30-6.30pm, Thurs 2.30-8.30pm
About you, the ideal Support Worker for the job:
Your knowledge-
Knowledge of policies and procedures relating to working with children, young people and adults at risk
Knowledge of safeguarding children, young people and adults
Your experience-
Experience of working with children, young people and adults
Experience of working with people with diverse needs and who may exhibit challenging behaviour
Your skills-
Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of audiences and explain complex issues in a user-friendly way.
Ability to plan, monitor and deliver projects
Basic ICT skills
Your qualifications-
Minimum GCSEs grade A-C in English Language and Mathematics
Due to the nature of this role, the successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check as part of their pre-employment clearances.
