Summary


We are looking for an enthusiastic and computer literate ward clerk, who will be part of a hardworking, busy but efficient team. They need to beable to work independently but also part of the MDT. Duties include working within our busy ward assisting staff, patients & relatives.

Base Location: Poole Hospital

To support with clerical and administrative duties in the day to day running of Sandbanks.

To be part of a hardworking and efficient multidisciplinary team, acting as aninitialpointof contactforpatients,familiesandexternalteamsvisitingtheward. Assistinanswering telephonecalls,liaisingwith patientsand theirfamilies, keeping diary’s up to date and maintaininguptodateinformationonTrustsystemsandproblemsolving.

Sandbanks ward will be moving to the Bournemouth site at the end of the year, likely November 2025. If applying for this job you will relocate with us.

Please note if the role or service is relocated as part of a planned move, employees will not be eligible for excess mileage reimbursement. Travel from the postholder's home to the new work base will be considered a normal commute. Any other changes not related to this relocation will be managed according to the relevant Trust or National terms and conditions.


Welcomepatientsandvisitorstotheward,answeringappropriatequestionsandprovidinganyrelevantinformationinasensitivemanner,referringtoqualifiedmembersoftheteamasnecessary.

Undertakeclericalandadministrativedutiesonbehalfoftheward.

Liaisewithindividualteammembersandotherdepartmentsasrequired,inamannerthat willcontributetotheeffectiveandefficientrunningoftheward.

Work to ensure that notes are created and ready for same day patients & ensure that the diary is up to date. You maybe required to call and liaise with patients about attending certain tests or appointments.

To arrange for the repair of faulty ward equipment.Todeliverposttopatients.

Answer the telephone and deal with enquiries in a courteous manner.

Toopenandsortincomingmailanddistribute torelevantpersonnelforaction.

TousecomputerforinputtingandaccessinggeneralpatientinformationonTrustcomputersystemssuchasEcamis,EPR andHealthoftheWard.

Toassist withotherdutiesthat mayreasonablyberequired.
