Summary


The Operational Manager will have the responsibility for the management of defined working sections within the Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering (MPCE) Department. This overall responsibility will be for the day-to-day technical and personnel line management of the teams providing specialist clinical, technical and training support for medical equipment across the Trust. This could include specialist clinical facilities such as Bone Densitometry, Renal, Radiotherapy, Theatres, Critical Care areas, Medical Device Trainers and all general wards and Departments, etc., taking responsibility for all operational matters and quality needs, as agreed with senior managers and clinical users.

The Operational Management will ensure that strong professional links are maintained across the Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering Department (MPCE) and clinical departments, and that the available resources are controlled and used in the most cost-effective way. The operational Manager will use their technical and clinical skills to provide effective solutions for medical equipment and clinical problems, as well as managing the technical staff for which they have responsibility.
The Operational Manager will be required to undertake a significant amount of management and administrative responsibility for the work being carried out, which will include formulation of policies/protocols and matters associated with resource/service management. To contribute to the on-going service developments and assuring compliance with any statutory legislation and the requirements of Quality Management Systems (such as BSI ISO 9001:2015) including all internal and external audits.
The Operational Manager will have day to day responsibility for budgetary management, devolved by the Head of Clinical Engineering or the Head of Department.
