Summary

We are looking for a person to join in a multidisciplinary Product team as part of our DWP Mobile Products Service. The team is responsible for the deployment, configuration and management of the mobile platform, as well as the development and deployment of mobile applications.

The overall product team, of which engineering provides a fundamental design and implementation function, is responsible for defining and delivering a mobility strategy looking at how the DWP can support an increasingly more mobile workforce, improving user experience, and increasing productivity across a variety of device platforms and sizes. Empowered team defines roadmap and utilises latest technologies and trends like cloud hosting, cloud VPN, collaboration tools and latest device form factors to deliver user focused outcomes.

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer for Mobile Device Services, you will be required to maintain and manage all aspects of the service, and responsible for a diverse design and implementation of Infrastructure services for DWP mobile devices in collaboration with Architecture and Engineering principles.

Some of the services and projects you can expect to help design and build include MDM components and integrations, remote access VPNs, backend services such as bespoke APIs and IIS web applications, write and maintain scripts, and manage Cloud Hosted infrastructure within AWS and Azure via Infrastructure as Code.

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer for Mobile Device Services (G7) you will develop and maintain infrastructure products and contribute towards their design, responsible for all aspects of the service from the MDM configuration itself, to the integrations and services which underpin it. You will:

  • Be responsible for the operational stability of the infrastructure solutions and be in a position to affect change in the on-going robustness and resilience of those products.
  • Work within and contribute to the overall Infrastructure Development Lifecycle Process as part of a delivery team focused on one or more products.
  • Provide 3rd line support for incidents, problems and changes, monitoring infrastructure service/solution including alerts and taking appropriate action where required.
  • Provide technical support and assistance, ensuring a consistent level of service/solution capability available for users whilst providing administration and support of infrastructure solutions.
  • Be responsible for creating and maintaining documentation to support services/solutions used by the organisation, this includes managing a supplier to maintain information on a third party product.
  • Track and monitor requirement documentation including prioritisation of improvement actions.
  • Specialise in recording incidents, problems and changes raised by users including resolution actions, you must also monitor and manage KPIs and service performance against those metrics.
  • Have knowledge of designing and implementing EMM/MDM solutions like Workspace One, Intune or Samsung Knox that enables the security and controls for DWP mobiles meeting varied needs of wide range of user groups.
