Summary


This post is for a full time Resident Clinical Fellow in Paediatrics. This post offers an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated medic to join a dynamic, rapidly expanding team delivering multidisciplinary acute care in Mersey & West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

This is a 6 month fixed term post so you must have GMC registration and right to work in UK at time of application to be able to progress to shortlisting.

Full Time - 40 hours

1 in 12 on call rota

Regular Departmental activities include:
Duties are:
(a) Routine work on the Neonatal Unit.
(b) Initial examination and examination on discharge and general care of babies
on Post Natal Wards.
(c) Cover for resuscitative procedures in Delivery Suite and Operating Theatre,
Emergency Department and Community Dental Suite (situated in Children
and Young People’s Outpatients)
(d) Routine work on general Paediatric Wards including the Children’s
Observation Ward.
(e) Cover for referrals from the Emergency Department at Whiston Hospital.
(f) Cover for referrals from the Surgical Team
(g) Attending Outpatient Clinics for education
(h) Cover for emergency paediatric referrals from General Practitioners
(i) Actively participating in Audit and Grand Rounds.

Acute Care

Providing emergency and maternity services at Whiston, Southport and Ormskirk hospitals, and medical and surgical specialties across all our sites.

Primary Care

Providing primary care services at Marshalls Cross Medical Centre situated in St Helens Hospital.

Community Services

Providing adult community services for St Helens and a wheelchair service in Chorley, South Ribble, and West Lancashire. Our inpatient unit at Newton Community Hospital is where patients needing acute hospital beds can continue rehabilitation. We also provide urgent care at our Urgent Treatment Centre located in St Helens town centre.

Specialist Regional Services

We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.
