Summary
Looking for a Media & Stories Manager to lead our press office and shape the way we communicate with the world. You'll be a key player in our External Engagement team, using your media expertise to amplify the voices of the people we support and drive real change. This is a unique opportunity to lead on national media strategy, manage high-profile campaigns, and ensure our communications are bold, compassionate, and impactful.
Main Duties
Lead proactive and reactive media engagement to raise our profile
Develop and implement a bold, strategic media plan
Manage crisis communications with professionalism and care
Source and shape powerful stories from our services
Build strong relationships with journalists and media outlets
Champion our spokespeople across media, digital, and public platforms
Collaborate across teams to deliver integrated, high-impact campaigns
Strengthen the press office function to be agile, responsive, and effective
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:-
Proven experience delivering high-quality national media coverage
A strong track record in a busy press office
Excellent writing and communication skills across formats and audiences
Strategic thinking and creative flair
Experience writing press releases and media briefings
Confidence in managing competing priorities and deadlines
A collaborative approach and relationship-building skills
Experience in the charity or third sector
Knowledge of the Education, Justice or Housing sectors
A passion for social justice and storytelling
