Summary

• Help to ensure that all care, domestic and kitchen staff contribute to the best of their ability to the efficient running of the Home and the creation of the right atmosphere.
• Assist residents with their personal care needs.
• Answer call bells, emergency bells, the door and the telephone: greet visitors.
• Ensure the healthcare needs of the residents are met by liaising with GP’s District Nurses, Chiropodists etc.
• Assist in the care of residents who become unwell or are on end of life care.
• Undertake the role of key worker. E.g. giving one to one sessions, reading , arranging days out and social events.
• Help with the completion of Plans of Care for residents, new residents and help with resident reviews.
• Help to control the issue of medication for which the Home has taken responsibility, to maintain the necessary records and to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the systems for administering medication.
• Ordering and returning of all medication in the building. Liase with GP for any prescriptions that needs chasing or ordering.
• Liaise with the matrons on the ward round.
• Chase up any reviews with district nurses , OT and continence team.
• Ensuring medication room is kept tidy and clean at all times. Making sure all records have been completed e.g. fridge temperature
• Help to ensure that the preparation, cooking and serving of food meet the required standards.
• Help to ensure that rooms and common spaces are properly cleaned, maintained and adequately heated.
Lead, facilitate and participate in staff meetings, staff training, supervision and development activities. All training/ Mandatory training needs to be adhered too in a specific timeframe that will be given when training has been assigned too. Failure to complete training in specific time given will result in being taken off rota until training has been completed.
• Carry out supervision and induction of designated staff as required.
• Support the Deputy Manager and Registered Manager in his/her duties as the responsible officer for the Home under the Health & Safety Act and the Fire Regulations.
• To assist Deputy Manager and Registered Manager to ensure that all records required to be kept in the home by the Care Standards Act 2000 and any subsequent relevant legislation are maintained accurately and are up to date. To have these available for inspection by the Inspection Officer or anyone appointed by Greensleeves Homes Trust to see them.
• Be aware of the security of the residents and building, locking external doors and windows at a time specified by the Deputy Manager and Registered Manager.
• To complete NVQ 3 in care or the equivalent
• Adhere to policies and procedures within the Home and the Trust.
• To hand out keys and Walkie-Talkie to all staff members at the beginning of their shift and to collect all items given to all staff at the end of each shift.
• To check that all paperwork have been completed before end of shift.
• You are also required to read the whiteboard in the medication room before the start of your shift to cover any previous logs over days you have been off work if appropriate. Please use the whiteboard for communications between all Seniors.
