Summary
Job description:
Teach and assess across all six core units, with particular emphasis on practical learning
outcomes such as conducting risk assessments, designing cryptographic systems, and
investigating cyber incidents.
Ensure assessment decisions meet NCFE and Ofqual standards, performing internal
quality checks and standardisation.
Guide learners in building and presenting evidence-based portfolios aligned to unit
grading criteria.
Deliver cyber security education using live scenarios e.g., securing outdated systems for
charities or designing encryption schemes.
Offer academic and technical support, especially in technical areas like PowerShell
scripting, penetration testing, and vulnerability scanning.
Keep up to date with cybersecurity trends, threats, and pedagogic innovation.
Person specification:
Essential:
Experience in delivering and assessing Level 4 or above in a regulated environment
Solid knowledge of cybersecurity tools, techniques, and standards (e.g., ISO 27001,
OWASP, NIST, MITRE ATT&CK)
Ability to teach topics including: risk assessment methodologies, OS security, encryption
algorithms, secure architecture, and threat intelligence lifecycle
Excellent command of assessment documentation: risk registers, risk matrices,
mitigation plans, security case studies
Strong IT proficiency, especially with Windows and Linux operating systems, server
security, and scripting (PowerShell, Python, SQL)
Desirable:
Sector-Specific Requirements (SSR) qualification
Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) qualification
Experience delivering NCFE qualifications or Cyber Security Apprenticeships
Knowledge of current industry cyber threats and their real-world impact (e.g.
ransomware, DDoS, phishing, insider attacks)
Ability to teach across operating systems and virtualised environments
Keen interest in shaping future cybersecurity professionals with practical, ethical, and
