About the role:
• To assist the Trading Standards Service in providing its Animal Health and
Welfare functions in accordance with relevant objectives, policies and
procedures.
About you:
• It would be desirable if you have some experience of working with animals, in particular farmed livestock.
• You will be organised, accurate and flexible with strong verbal and written
communication skills and the ability to work on your own initiative.
• You may have an appropriate qualification or experience in a related field.
• You will be adaptable and organised with an eye for detail and capable of
working under pressure.
• You must be willing to carry out duties at flexible times including occasional
evenings/ weekends.
What you will do:
• Undertake routine inspections and respond to complaints and enquiries
relating to Animal Health and Welfare matters and support other officers in
the team with this work.
• You will work towards obtaining the Chartered Institute of Trading
Standards Animal Health and Welfare Professional Qualification -
https://www.tradingstandards.uk/practitioners/professional-training/ctsi
animal-health-and-welfare-professional-qualification.
• Provide advice and assistance to agricultural businesses.
• Work closely with other Council departments, government agencies,
external partners and members of the public.
• Apply relevant legislation and guidance and undertake investigations or
enforcement as appropriate. Assist in the preparation of case files for
prosecution, attend court/tribunals/hearings as required.
There is no DBS Check requirement for this position
