We advise councils and developers to ensure development happens in the right way with the right environmental infrastructure to protect and enhance the environment. You will provide technical and administrative support to the Sustainable Places team to ensure we maximise results, work efficiently and recover our costs for planning advice that we provide to developers, consultants or councils.

You’ll co-ordinate data for our monthly and quarterly updates and reporting. There will be opportunities to lead improvements to our ways of working and to promote our advice to external customers in line with the continual improvement process.

Job responsibilities:

• Actively support the Sustainable places team on project management
• Support reporting on our KPIs for example through adding decision notice data to our systems to track outcomes
• Provide process, budget control and best practice for our project work (training provided)
• Analyse and present numerical data
• Communicate key information across internal teams
• Be part of a friendly team to manage workloads and work flexibly to deliver our goals

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

The team

We influence development across Kent and south London area. We respond to pre applications, planning applications and influence local plans using evidence and a place based approach. We lead on developing and maintaining positive ways of working with Local Planning Authorities focused on protecting and improving the environment. Responding to incidents is also a central part of what we do and you will be required to have an incident role.
Experience/skills required
Essential:

• Good understanding of environmental issues and opportunities
• Excellent IT skills, specifically Microsoft Excel
• Able to work independently and as a part of team
• Pro active attitude and good problem solving skills
• Good understanding of the importance of excellent customer service
• Numeracy skills, good attention to detail, and ability to consistently deliver tasks to a high standard
