Summary
A Vacancy at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust.
We are looking for a clinical support worker who is passionate about delivering great patient care within a busy emergency department. You must possess good communication skills and be able to advocate for your patients in what can be a stressful, loud and busy working environment.
Patients are unfortunately waiting much longer in the emergency department and with that comes many additional pressures and challenges, we require strong characters who are resilient and hard working. The ability to work well under pressure is essential and keeping a cool calm head when faced with high stress situations.
Main duties of the job include:
• Taking observations and documenting these electronically - escalating any issues to the registered nurse
• Supporting the registered nurses
• Ensuring patients are cared for in a safe, warm and comfortable environment
• Ensuring patients are clean and dry
• Ensuring patients are fed and hydrated
• Assisting in emergency situations
Any specific job role the nurse in charge requires completing.
We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
