The Opportunity:

A unique opportunity for experienced counsellors/psychotherapists looking for a varied role including clinical management, clinical practice, placement support, core teaching and research. You will be part of the clinical management team at Hope Park Counselling Centre, a vibrant counselling center contributing daily to delivering the service, supporting both the development of Hope Park and students on placement. This post is for a qualified experienced practitioner who is committed to the dialogue between psychodynamic perspectives and the person-centered approach which is Edinburgh’s core orientation. Teaching, academic assessment and Masters dissertation supervision will provide opportunities to develop teaching practice in addition to clinical lead skills. The post-holder will also make a contribution to the strategic development of scholarship, research, knowledge exchange and impact within Counselling, Psychotherapy and Applied Social Sciences, the wider School and the University. You will provide clinical cover during the center's operational times including daytime and evenings. You will be required to be on campus during your designated working hours which will include a minimum of one evening per week. We are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns.



The salary for this post is Grade UE07 (£40,497.00 to £48,149.00) per annum.



Your skills and attributes for success:

Postgraduate qualification in Counselling and Psychotherapy, at Masters or Doctorate level holding professional accreditation with a relevant Counselling and Psychotherapy professional body (COSCA, BACP, UKCP or equivalent) or eligibility to apply for accreditation.
Relevant experience practicing as a counsellor/psychotherapist with expertise as a practitioner in a range of counselling services and sectors.
Experience of delivering professional education in the field of Counselling and Psychotherapy including the ability to design and deliver course materials and assess student performance in both academic assignments and counselling skills/practice development.
Experience of supporting students on placement at a placement agency.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team as well as able to take responsibility for organising your own activities and for the management of allocated resources.
