About the Role
Move to Independence (MTI) is a moderate to low-level supported housing initiative managed by Surrey County Council and supported by housing providers. Our aim is to accommodate people with, primarily, mental health issues who require this level of support, and who have local housing connections. People live in the accommodation for up to two years, and are then supported to move onto fully independent accommodation; a place to call home.
MTI works collaboratively to help people reach their full potential by encouraging recovery and social inclusion, so they can be part of their local communities. The service is founded on a strength-based approach and aims to achieve positive outcomes, following the guidelines of the Care Act.
This is a varied role, but an average day for an EIT Support Worker will include:
- Visiting service users in their own homes and supporting them to achieve the goals they have identified. This could include support with public transport, shopping, accessing community-based activities and budget management to name a few
- Communicating with various agencies (both verbally and in writing) to support people to access the wider community, including statutory and voluntary sector services
- Writing up daily notes for each person you visit, using the relevant Surrey systems (training will be provided)
- Managing your diary
- Partaking in an on-call rota
This is an exciting time to join the Move to Independence Team as we expand to cover other areas of Surrey and provide more accommodation for the people who need it the most. You will be part of this development and contribute to its growth and success. We are proud of our excellent team culture and we actively encourage collaborative working, sharing ideas, experience, and knowledge. We are also strong supporters of career development through training and supervision.
