Summary


The Patch Associate GP Dean will assist and work with the Primary Care Dean and the Heads of School for General Practice to ensure the delivery of safe and compassionate care to patients through the delivery of high-quality GP specialty training.

The postholder will have local responsibility for the co-ordination, provision and management of postgraduate general practice training activities within the Cornwall GP training programme.

The role may expand in the future and may also involve some wider regional work.

This role is for 4 session / 16 hours per week, and will involve overseeing placement and recruitment issues, developing wider placements and capacity to support GP expansion.

It includes formulating strategy, managing and overseeing local education budgets and leadership activities within the School of Primary Care as well as line management of TPDs.

This role will also include important work with our Educational and Clinical Supervisors to support and help them provide good quality supervision and education for trainees.

In addition, the postholder will have responsibilities with respect to the wider primary care workforce, supporting the development of the Primary Care workforce in Devon through the promotion of multi-professional education, recruitment and retention initiatives and in supporting at system level these activities.

As an Associate Dean you will be part of the extended Senior GP educator team and will also be expected to be part of the approval process for Trainers and Practices within the Southwest and supporting delivery of both central and local ARCP panels.

You will work closely with the Head of Schools other Associate Deans, Training Programme Directors, Patch administrators/managers and Directors of Medical Education and the Primary Care Dean.

It will involve delivery and oversight of projects and workstreams to support doctors in training and educators, including induction, one-to-one support, small group work, and being an escalation point for both educators and DiTs.
