The Community Eating Disorders Practitioner will work across the specialist Eating Disorders Community Mental Health Team, providing clinical expertise and psychological interventions to patients as part of their recovery.

The staff member will manage a caseload of eating disordered patients across the county, assessing, planning care, managing risks and providing nutritional and psychological support, treatment interventions and advice to patients.

Providing information and training to other healthcare and mental health professionals, relatives, carers and other interested groups.

Assisting the senior leadership team with the development of the service.
• Assess clients referred to the service. This may be at mental health sites across the county, in the client’s own home, or in hospital if the client is an inpatient
• Ensure that each patient in their care receives an individual assessment including a risk assessment, with regularly updated care plan which is formulated with the service user
• Assess and manage risk, appropriate to each individual patient
• Provide nutritional advice, information, and support to clients
• Provide psychological interventions and support to patients with regard to their eating disorder
• Liaise with and refer patients to other healthcare and mental health professionals as appropriate and according to their individual needs
• Liaise with the Clinical Manager and Mult- Disciplinary Team as appropriate and arrange for more urgent care/treatment interventions should this be required
• Plan and run group treatment sessions with clients
• Provide support and information to relatives and carer
• Maintain comprehensive client records
• Write reports on clients and the service for GPs and other professions, as required
• Participate in Multi-Disciplinary Team and Multi-agency care meetings
• Provide clinical supervision to mental health professionals, as appropriate.
