Salary: £31,650 - £49,084 per annum
The Governors of Manchester Secondary Pupil Referral Unit are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, resilient, dedicated teacher to join our school in September 2025, or as soon as possible thereafter.
The role of Lead Teacher is unique. You will support the delivery of our ambitious curriculum at one of our Learning Centres, in partnership with the Centre’s Student Services Manager.
You will:
- Model high quality first teaching of at least one key subject and one other subject to students at your Learning Centre
- Provide pastoral support to students at your Centre
- Quality assure delivery of the whole curriculum across your Centre, using a variety of monitoring and evaluation activities throughout the year
- Work alongside MSPRU’s SEND department to identify barriers to students’ learning and to plan appropriate interventions to ensure that all of your students achieve to their fullest potential
The appointed candidate will have:
- The vision to help drive the school forward and a proven track record of managing change
- Successful experience of delivering GCSE/Functional Skills Level 2
- An understanding of the barriers to learning faced by children with SEMH and their families, and how to support children in their emotional well-being
- Expert knowledge of the National Curriculum
- The ability to develop and implement policies and practices which reflect the school’s commitment to high achievement, effective teaching and learning
- Experience of planning and leading teaching and learning
- A high level of interpersonal skills
- The ability to plan, organise and prioritise their own workload
- The ability to adapt teaching to meet pupils needs
- Knowledge of guidance and requirements around safeguarding children
- A commitment to excellence for all pupils
