Summary


This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join our team of 4 adult consultant nephrologists and 2 paediatric consultant nephrologists at the National Renal Complement Therapeutics Centre (NRCTC)https://www.atypicalhus.co.uk/. The NRCTC provides world leading specialist care to all patients with aHUS & C3G across England and Scotland. This is a new 8PA post, based in the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful applicant willtakea key role in provision and development of the NRCTC.On call duties for the NRCTC will be 1 in ~7. The successful candidate will be based in the NRCTC at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. They will be expected to provide input to the general renal service.

This post is an 8PA Consultant Nephrologist position to share responsibility for aHUS and C3 glomerulopathy patients under the care of the National Renal Complement Therapeutics Centre (NRCTC) within the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.



The successful applicant will take a key role in provision and development of the NRCTC. On call duties for the NRCTC will be 1 in 7. The candidate will be expected to contribute to the World leading clinical research at the NRCTC. Input to the general nephrology service will be expected and will be tailored to the candidate’s experience.

• Freeman Hospital
• Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI)
• Health Innovation Neighbourhood (on the former Newcastle General Hospital and Centre for Ageing and Vitality site)
• Newcastle Dental Hospital
• Newcastle Fertility Centre
• Northern Centre for Cancer Care, North Cumbria
• Northern Genetics Service
• Cramlington Manor Walks

These include a range of flagship services which deliver cutting-edge care (supported by state-of-the-art diagnostic services in both radiology and pathology) and are a catalyst for innovation to support pioneering clinical practice in the NHS.

· To undertake the day to day management of patients with aHUS, MPGN and C3G

· To participate in the interpretation of genetic results of patients with aHUS, MPGN and C3G

· Undertake highly specialist on call for the NRCTC

· Undertake general nephrology on call for Renal Services at Freeman hospital

· To undertake glomerulonephritis/vasculitis and new patient clinics at Freeman hospital
