Summary
Job Advert
We’re looking for a Domestic Abuse Officer to join our Tenancy Sustainment Team - a vital role that ensures Torus delivers a
strong, effective response to customers experiencing or at risk of domestic abuse.
In this role, you’ll lead on delivering a safety-led, survivor-focused approach, offering housing-related support to those
affected by domestic abuse. You’ll work closely with individuals to assess risk, develop tailored safety plans, and ensure their
housing needs are met in a trauma-informed and compassionate way.
You’ll also be a key point of contact for external agencies, with responsibility for attending MARAC (Multi-Agency Risk Assessment
Conferences) across Liverpool, St Helens, and Warrington, ensuring that housing considerations are part of the wider safety
planning process.
Familiarity with local authority referral pathways and specialist domestic abuse services will be essential, as well as experience
using risk assessment tools to guide appropriate support and interventions.
What you'll be doing:
* Manage a caseload of domestic abuse cases, providing housing-related advice and support.
* Complete DASH or MERIT risk assessments following disclosures and make referrals to MARAC and specialist services via local
authority pathways.
* Work in partnership with external agencies to deliver a coordinated, multi-agency response.
* Represent Torus at MARACs across Liverpool, St Helens, and Warrington, contributing to safety planning and action-setting.
* Assess needs for target hardening and support security installations where necessary.
* Advise on rehousing options and assist with emergency accommodation and priority housing applications.
* Collaborate with specialist domestic abuse services to provide holistic support, including advice on housing, health, and
finances.
* Develop and review support plans, accurately recording all assessments and interventions in QL.
* Empower customers to understand and overcome the dynamics of abuse, supporting their journey toward independence.
* Identify and report safeguarding concerns in line with Torus and local authority policies.
* Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings such as MARAC, MARAM, and Child Protection conferences.
* Coordinate with internal teams to ensure customers’ housing and support needs are met.
* Set clear expectations with customers about the scope of your role and the support available.
What we're looking for:
* GCSE Grade 3 and above education or equivalent relevant qualification, training, or experience
* CIH level 3 or willingness to work towards.
* Evidence of working in the housing or domestic abuse sector
* Experience of managing a case load and multi-agency working
* Experience of crisis management, risk minimisation and of making decisions in difficult situations
Interview Process:
* Candidates will undergo an in-person assessment, consisting of a scenario-based exercise and competency-based questions.
Additional Information:
Each successful applicant will be required to complete the following pre-employment checks prior to a start date being agreed:
* Right to work verification
* Qualification certificate check
* 2x Completed references
* OH Health Questionnaire – Fit For Work
* DBS check (if required for role)
* Completion of all new starter documentation including signed T&C’s
