Summary
We’re currently undergoing recruitment for Sawmill Operatives for our new client in Bishops Castle.
Monday – Thursday: 07:30 – 17:30
Friday: 07:00 – 17:00
£13.04 per hour
Main roles and responsibilities:
Operate sawmill machinery, including saws, edgers, and trimmers, to cut and shape logs.
Inspect raw logs for quality and size before processing.
Measure, cut, and grade timber according to specifications.
Stack and organise finished wood products for storage or dispatch.
Perform routine maintenance on machinery and report any faults.
Monitor product quality and adjust equipment settings as necessary.
Adhere to safety guidelines and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Load and unload logs and timber using forklifts or other equipment, if certified.
Assist with inventory control and log tracking.
Skills and requirements:
Previous experience in a sawmill or manufacturing environment (preferred but not required).
Ability to operate and maintain heavy machinery.
Strong physical fitness and the ability to lift heavy materials.
Basic math skills for measuring and cutting.
Good understanding of health and safety practices.
Forklift certification (advantageous but not mandatory).
Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
