Summary
Responsibilities: HR Service Delivery 1. Act as key point of contact for HR queries and requests from divisional managers and team members. Use initiative to respond promptly and accurately wherever possible. When input or guidance is needed from the People Business Partner, take details of the enquiry and provide a timescale for response. 2. Be aware of, and advise on terms and conditions of employment, ensuring relevant, timely and accurate information is provided. 3. Advise on the requirements of HR policies and procedures, ensuring accurate and timely information is provided. Under the guidance of the Business Partner, review policies, procedures and handbooks and develop new ones as business needs change. 4. Work positively with all HR team members in support of the core values and provide a flexible and responsive service. 5. Process changes during the employee lifecycle including amendments to hours, roles, salaries. 6. Positively contribute to People projects and initiatives, under the guidance of the People Business Partner. 7. Cover in the absence of other People Advisors when required. Records and Systems 1. Contribute to the development and updating of the computerised HR information system so that information is current and easily accessible. 2. Ensure that all information is stored and processed in accordance with Data Protection and Confidentiality requirements. 3. Provide reports from the system including those relating to HR trends and KPIs. 4. Ensure that policies, procedures, handbooks and other documents are readily available on the system and source them when required. 5. Work collaboratively with other team members to identify and implement new methods of digitising the People service, so that it operates as efficiently and responsively as possible. Employee Relations 1. Support managers in preparing for and undertaking investigations, hearings and appeals by ensuring that robust processes are followed. 2. Undertake investigations when required, according to own level of experience and expertise. 3. Attend hearings to take notes and advise on process. Ensure accurate records of all hearings are kept and outcomes are communicated appropriately and consistently. 4. Appropriately challenge areas of poor People practice, take action to resolve them and report them to the Business Partner if a resolution cannot be found. 5. Organise and attend consultation meetings as part of ABLs agreed Change Management Protocol. Culture and Values 1. With People team colleagues, implement innovative ways of embedding the core values, so the values are a thread throughout everything the team does. 2. Support employee engagement initiatives within the division, so that the voice of employees is heard and appropriately acted upon. 3. Support regular and varied employee surveys are conducted and assist with analysis of the results. 4. Champion the core values in all People activities and ensure colleagues do the same. 5. Analyse exit interview feedback, so that anomalies and areas for improvement are recorded and addressed. Absence Management 1. Work with operational managers to monitor absence levels and trends in accordance with the Absence Management Policy. Pick up on absence triggers and discuss appropriate courses of action with managers with the aim od reducing absence levels. 2. Advise managers to ensure that appropriate support is provided to employees to enable them to maintain good attendance this may include phased returns to work, reasonable adjustments and accessing occupational health support. 3. Positively contribute to health and well-being initiatives to support employees in living healthy and happy lifestyles. 4. Keep accurate absence records; ensure absences are properly certificated and that pay adjustments are carried out when required. 5. Advise on maternity, paternity, adoption, compassionate and other leave provisions. Equality, Diversity and Inclusion 1. Positively contribute to ABLs EDI plans by taking part in projects and working groups to increase EDI awareness and standards. 2. Ensure that requests for reasonable adjustments and other arrangements relating to protected characteristics are fairly and consistently dealt with, in accordance with policy guidelines. 3. Provide data and reports to inform and support EDI initiatives. Learning and Development 1. Monitor the provision of appropriate compulsory training, including safeguarding and health and safety at work to ensure it is undertaken by employees as required. 2. Monitor the appraisal and personal development support processes across the organisation, ensure they are carried out for all employees and that actions are taken forward. 3. Ensure that person centred onboarding and induction processes are consistently and effectively implemented to support employee retention. 4. Support managers in arranging training to meet identified needs. Recruitment 1. Provide support to the Internal Recruiter including carrying out pre-employment checks efficiently. 2. Liaise with candidates as required and answer any queries they may have. 3. Attend interviews when required. 4. Provide support with recruitment events including open days and careers events. 5. Issue contracts of employment, once signed off by the Business Partner. 6. Ensure a smooth transition from recruitment through to induction and probationary reviews.
