Summary

DVSA is strengthening the way we manage and support digital delivery—making it easier to do the right thing, at the right time, with the right information. We’re expanding our Digital & Data Hub to bring more focus and structure to governance, assurance, and how we work across digital services.

As part of that growth, we’re looking for someone who can help us build relationships, spot risks early, and make sure key decisions are well-informed and aligned to DVSA’s wider goals.

This role sits at the centre of a team that supports digital delivery across the agency. Whether you’re supporting a project through assurance, helping an SRO make sense of governance requirements, or improving how lessons are learned and shared, your work will help digital teams stay accountable, agile, and focused on what matters.

You’ll work across DVSA’s key service portfolios—Driver, Vehicle, Enforcement, and Common Services—and support the smooth running of governance by bringing clarity, consistency, and a calm approach to change.

If you’re motivated by supporting people to deliver well, and want to be part of a team that’s making governance more supportive and less bureaucratic—we’d love to hear from you.

The Senior Governance Business Partner (Digital) will support the Head of Digital Governance in developing relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring seamless and supportive governance. The role involves engaging confidently with senior leaders and Project SROs, championing assurance principles and values, and providing sound advice on governance, risk, and controls. The role holder will work collaboratively within DVSA and externally across DfT to ensure informed decision-making and maintain DVSA’s service provision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and maintain relationships with senior leaders and Project Executives and SROs, promoting a positive assurance culture.
  • Governance and Assurance: Provide authoritative advice on governance, risk, and controls, ensuring alignment with best practices.
  • Portfolio Management: Oversee the allocation of assurance resources, manage the Portfolio lessons learnt process, and ensure key milestones are met.
  • Financial Administration: Handle budget profiling and monthly monitoring, ensuring coherence between programmes and projects.
  • Training and Development: Conduct workshops on project management tools and methodologies, fostering a learning culture.
