Summary
Overview
We are seeking a motivated and organised Business Administration Assistant to join our charity. The ideal candidate will provide administrative support across a range of functions, including customer service, data entry, scheduling collections and deliveries, managing paperwork, and supporting the wider team with general office tasks. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, good attention to detail, and a passion for helping others. This is a rewarding opportunity to be part of a charity making a real difference to people affected by furniture poverty in Gateshead.
Responsibilities
-Answering the telephone and dealing with enquiries throughout the day
-Regularly checking and responding to enquiries via email throughout the day
-Regularly checking and responding to enquiries on social media (Facebook and Instagram) throughout the day
-Processing donations of furniture over the telephone on our customer relationship management (CRM) system, scheduling collection dates, and producing paperwork for the driving team
-Entering new and donated furniture in the stock control area of the CRM system
-Filing, shredding, and photocopying when required
-Checking and maintaining stationary levels, placing orders when necessary
-Serving customers and processing sales of furniture in the showroom and over the telephone when required
-Covering any other appropriate responsibilities
Essential Requirements
-Excellent communication skills in person, on the telephone, and on email/social media messages
-Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
-Strong computer literacy and ability to use, or have confidence to learn to use, CRM software
-Proven experience in an administrative role or similar position
-Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
Desirable Requirements
-Knowledge of our charity and/or an understanding of furniture poverty
-English and Maths GCSE or equivalent
-An admin-related qualification
