Owen Payne Recruitment are seeking experienced Rolling Mill Setter/Operator’s to join a leading Steel manufacturing client located in the Smethwick area (B66).
Due to the nature of this role, previous experience is essential.

Hours of Work:
• Monday to Friday – Set Afternoon Shift
• Monday to Thursday 14:00 till 23:00 & Friday 14:00 till 17:30
Rate of Pay:
• £16.61-£17.59 per hour (Including Shift Allowance)
• Fantastic Overtime rates
Key Responsibilities:
• Set production equipment safely and efficiently.
• Control production processes to set tolerances.
• Set, load and feed coil *.
• Set roll feed, if required within production base/division.
• Install equipment such as guides, guards, gears, cooling equipment, and rolls, using hand tools.
• Operate processes to optimum efficiency.
• Manipulate controls, observe, monitor and adjust, to set speed for optimum machine performance.
• Achieve/exceed production targets.
• Ensure production waste is kept to minimum.
• Housekeeping/5S (Sort, Set In Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).
• Any other duties within the capability of the job holder.
• Examine, inspect and measure raw materials and finished products to verify conformance to specifications.
• Ensure production paperwork is correctly completed.
• Ensure all safety devices are in place and guard cards are signed off.
• Follow guidelines laid out in company H&S and environmental policies.
• Report dangerous occurrences/risks.
• Complete quality checks.
• Ensure product is manufactured to drawing spec/customer requirements.
• Assist in secondary quality checks and inspections in accordance with HI quality procedures.
• Complete documentation, including correct product labelling.
• Ensure equipment is properly used & stored correctly.
Qualifications & Skills:
• Previous experience in a machine setting and/or operating role within a manufacturing environment
• Strong mechanical understanding and ability to interpret technical drawings and production specifications
• Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Understanding of workplace safety and best practices in machine operation
