Summary
What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic individual to join our team. This role is an interesting combination between further supporting the school on our commitment to high quality physical education and also developing our pastoral offer to children across our school.
We are looking to appoint an experienced sports Coach who has the passion and skills to support our children to progress in their physical education journey. The right individual needs to be enthusiastic, inspirational, and have the drive to improve the physical education and activity of our children. This role will include teaching our broad and ambitious curriculum to children from reception to year 4. Our curriculum includes Fundamentals, Games, Dance, Gymnastics, Athletics, Swimming, Outdoor Adventurous Activities and throughout an understanding of health and fitness, safety in sport, tactics and evaluation of performance.
The role also includes a significant focus on providing additional support to small groups or individuals identified within the school either as part of their EHCP or pastoral needs. Experience of delivering SEMH interventions is desirable although training and support will be provided.
We are looking for:
• A qualified sports coach (or willing to embark on training) with experience of teaching primary-aged children.
• Experience of supporting children with SEMH or SEND needs and delivering interventions to either small groups or 1-to-1.
• A willing to use a range of teaching methods to support learning.
• Someone who aligns with our school vision, values and ethos.
• A commitment to develop the ‘whole child’
• Someone who has an understanding of what a high quality lesson looks like.
• A flexible and adaptable team player who is committed to the whole school and has a willingness to support the ‘smalls school’ ethos.
What the school offers its staff
We can offer:
• A school where staff and children are passionate about Physical Education and Physical Activity.
• A school rooted in community and togetherness.
• A school where the ‘whole child’ is our focus and where the wider curriculum and enrichment is important.
• Highly motivated children who are well behaved and enthusiastic about learning.
• An experienced teaching and leadership team, committed to support others.
• Excellent community support from parents and governors.
• An ‘OPAL Platinum’ school where play is celebrated.
