Summary

Clinical Practice To carry out specialist assessments of cognitive, behavioural and emotional functioning with clients with complex neuro-disability and develop clear psychological formulations based on these assessments. To carry out functional analyses of any challenging behaviours and develop appropriate guidelines and intervention plans. To make recommendations for interventions and care on the basis of the psychological formulation. To deliver and monitor interventions, e.g. cognitive Clinical Psychologist Page 3 of 5 rehabilitation strategies; psycho-education to patients, families and carers; CBT or other psychological interventions; behavioural interventions, as guided by the formulation. To conduct decision-specific complex mental capacity assessments and/or contribute to joint capacity assessments with other members of the MDT as needed. To contribute to best interests decisions and meetings for relevant decisions when patients are assessed to lack capacity to make these decisions for themselves. To provide information, support and advice to patients families and carers as appropriate. To support the MDT in working with families as needed. To work collaboratively within the multi-disciplinary team, respecting the knowledge and expertise of all team members, whilst providing a psychological perspective on the clinical and service issues. To provide appropriate and prompt input to documentation and formal reports. To participate in monitoring of standards and performance, including timely completion of outcome measures. To participate in improvements for clinical practice and support the development of policies and procedures, as directed. To adhere to professional codes of conduct and practice guidelines, and be aware of legislation relevant to practice, e.g. the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. Education, Training and Development To contribute to teaching and training commitments relating to psychology at British Home. This may include teaching on the staff-wide induction programme and on training programmes for nursing, HCA and therapy assistant staff. To be self-aware about the limits of own competence, and proactive in improving competence, e.g. by making effective use of clinical supervision. To focus CPD around improving knowledge of clinical neuropsychology, particularly the needs of this specialist client group, taking advantage of both internal and external training opportunities. Research and Evaluation To contribute to and/or undertake audits and service evaluations within the service area. To engage in and support research projects as required. Develop effective working relationships with other employees within The British Home Work in cooperation with members of the multi-disciplinary teams to maximise opportunities for Residents Seek opportunities for personal and professional growth Be a role model for other carers and be an ambassador for the service To provide leadership and line management to the care and nursing teams within the British Home To support the collaborative work of the service, contributing to the assessment and oversight of teamwide referrals and case discussions, promoting and addressing the welfare of children and adults. To work clinically when required and be a visible member of the team. To promote healthy workplace culture and behaviours, challenging this where appropriate and recognising and rewarding good conduct. To organise work effectively and utilise digital platforms, alongside ensuring those in each clinical area have opportunities for face-to-face contact and discussions. To look for opportunities to hear the voices of the patients and the families and/or advocates accessing our services and enable co-production. Ensure accurate and contemporaneous notes and records of all contacts are recorded within the electronic notes system. Maintain professional membership and registration of the relevant professional body relating to your practice. Identify personal learning and development needs and attend appropriate internal and/or external training as identified in personal development plan and take proactive advantage of the professional support offered by British Home to meet the demands of working within this challenging field. Maintain good relationships with other multi-professional visiting the home Experience of working with a range of partner organisations.
