Summary

A Vacancy at South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust.

Job Title: Specialty Doctor

Contract Type: Fixed Term for 1 year

The Trust is seeking a specialty grade psychiatrist for the Carshalton and Wallington Integrated Recovery Hub (C&W IRH).

This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic and dynamic specialty psychiatrist to join this newly transformed integrated mental health and wellbeing team.

There are a number of opportunities for the post holder to conduct research, audit, or quality improvement initiatives for which support can be provided. The post holder is expected to participate fully in leadership and quality improvement initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life of our patients.

The postholder will closely work with the Consultant psychiatrist in order to provide medical and clinical leadership to the Carshalton and Wallington IRH within Adult Mental Health Services for Sutton.

Whilst the Consultant will carry overall responsibility for the day-to-day clinical care, risk assessment, risk management, initiation of medication, and the recovery focused care delivered by the Team, the Specialty Psychiatrist will be fully involved in delivery in these areas.

The Trust has an excellent reputation for developing innovative clinical services including the Recovery College and SUN Project. Our Recovery College has been visited by overseas healthcare commissioners, who have gone on to develop similar services abroad in collaboration with our Trust. The Trust is also proud to have also developed a range of new, progressive, public facing services including Crisis Cafes and a Mental Health Support Line.

The Specialty doctor will make decisions day-to day around clinical care, will assess risk, initiate, and review medication and embrace the Recovery ethos. The Specialty doctor will accept referrals to the Team, take the initiative in reviewing care and initiate and plan discharge as appropriate. Whilst not acting as Responsible Clinician for patients on CTO, the Specialty doctor will be fully involved in the delivery of care to those patients and to support and advise the Consultant as to their clinical situation to inform the use of power of recall by the Consultant.
