Summary


We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic dietitian with good team working skills to join ourmultidisciplinary specialist weight assessment and managementteam. This is apermanent postfor 0.6WTE (22.5hours a week) Band 7 dietitian.


This post involvesworkinginourspecialistweight managementservicesbased in Bristol, UK.You will have the opportunity to work in both oursurgical and non-surgical obesity managementteams, whichprovide a pathway of multi-disciplinarycare. You willwork closely with psychologists, endocrinologists, surgeons,pharmacistsandspecialist nurses/ practitioners.Previousclinicalexperienceand a passion forsupporting people living with obesity is essential.This role ispredominantly basedatour Brunel Building inSouthmead Hospital,but may require wider travel across theSouthWestand beyond.The role is likely to require a combination of in person and remote working.

Registration with the Health Professions Council as a Registered Dietitian.  This will be either:4 yeardegree course in Nutrition and DieteticsOR3 yeardegree in related biological subject +2 yearpost-graduate course in dietetics(MSc) 


Ideally worked atBand6or 7level with experience working in obesity care


Experience in using word processing, spreadsheet, database andpowerpointprogrammes & specialist dietetic computer applications. 


Training and experience in delivering teaching sessions and presentations to health professionals and patient groups. 


Clinical supervisory skills course,Post-graduate training in behaviourchangeskills


Familiarity with principles of clinical governance and national guidelines for best practice


Ability to act as an independent practitioner and be professionally and legally accountable and responsiblefor all aspects of own work


Ability to communicate successfully, both verbally and in writing, with a wide spectrum of health professionals and patients, to establishand maintain successful working relationships 


Advanced level ability to use counselling skills, motivationalapproachesand cognitive behaviour therapy strategies


Ability to take the lead on introducing new ways of working egintroducing services to manage obesity in both Tier 3 and Tier 4 weight management services.

• To provide specialist dietetic service to the Tier 3 Weight Assessment and Management Service in Bristol and Wiltshire (currently remote).  This will include individual clinics (both remote and face to face),facilitatingpatient group programmes and contributing to multidisciplinary team model of care.

• To deliver a dietetic servicetopatients in the pre and post operative phase.

• To assess and treat a defined caseload of patients andmaintainaccuraterecords. 

• To deliver group and individual education and training, especially concerning obesity, to a range of health professionals,studentsand patients. 

• To act as an expert practitioner in Obesity care, including those on obesity medications.  

• To lead and contribute to policy development on matters relating to nutrition and dietetics within NBT, especially thosepertaining toobesity.
