Deputy Nursery Manager

Kamelia Kids are looking for a full time Deputy Nursery Manager to join the team, working 40 hours, across 4 or 5 days per week, from 07.30 to 18.00.

The Role

The Deputy Nursery Manager is a qualified early years professional who has responsibility for the day-to-day running of the nursery and the supervision of staff within it. In addition, they are responsible for the nursery in the absence of the Nursery Operations Director.

They perform an important role in leading, training and developing staff, imparting their excellent early years knowledge and skills to other team members while creating a warm, safe, stimulating and rich environment for the children in their care. They ensure that the nursery staff, students, volunteers, and resources are effectively managed and support and promote all aspects of offering a high quality of teaching and learning, ensuring that staff are properly deployed, according to appropriate ratios, ensuring appropriate cover is available for staff absences and offer appropriate stimulation and support to the children. Liaising daily with the Nursery Operations Director, Senior Management team, and Board of Trustees in all aspects of nursery, to ensure the effective and efficient use of financial budget and resources.

Requirements

Proven experience of supervising a team including completing supervisions and appraisals.
Level 3 Childcare qualification or above in Early Years.
An enhanced DBS check and two satisfactory references.
Sound understanding of Safeguarding and the ability to work with multi-agencies and follow safeguarding policy and procedures precisely.
Excellent understanding of the Education Inspection Framework and the Statutory Framework for the Early years Foundation Stage.
Sound knowledge of child development.
Sound knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice.
Experience of supporting children with SEND.
Experience in supporting educators with SEND Strategies.
Excellent communication skills, written and oral, are essential to effectively liaise and work with nursery team, parents/carers & professionals.
Positive attitude and ability to manage change effectively.
Ability to work with and communicate with parents and professionals and to encourage their involvement.
Commitment to and understanding of diversity and equality.
Ability to work autonomously, supervising and responding to needs of the team as required to deliver high standards.
Health clearance for the role.
Ability to use Microsoft Office packages effectively and to produce reports and correspondence in a professional and accurate format, with attention to detail.
Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
