Summary

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic Clinical Vascular Scientist to work in the busy and well-equipped Vascular Unit at St Helier Hospital.

The post is for 37.5 hours per week.

Presently, over 2500 scans are performed annually using the GE E10S. A wide range of investigations are performed, including carotid & vertebral scans, AAA scans, EVAR surveillance, peripheral arterial and venous studies (upper and lower limb) and graft surveillance.

Healthcare workers and clerical staff support the unit. It is situated within Radiology and has the support of the Vascular Surgeon and the Department of Radiology.

The candidate should be qualified and experienced in performing and reporting on vascular duplex scans. The newly appointed person will be expected to share the clinical duties with another accredited vascular scientist and a sonographer. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, well-organised person who interacts well with patients and colleagues.

Additionally, you will need to be able to work independently and have full accreditation through the Society of Vascular Technology, a PG Dip in Ultrasound, with vascular experience, or completed the NSHCS Scientist Training Programme as a Vascular Scientist.

This post is for a Clinical Vascular Scientist working at an advanced practice that can fulfil the requirements of the 8a post. However, we also offer the opportunity for a Clinical Vascular Scientist to join us, at band 7 level, who wishes to progress towards working at advanced practice

Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust provides a range of medical services to approximately 490,000 people living across southwest London and northeast Surrey. In addition, we provide more specialist services, in particular renal and neonatal intensive care, to a wider area, covering parts of Sussex and Hampshire.

We serve an area that is rich in diversity, with a mix of urban and rural areas, and differing levels of quality of life. We cover some of the most prosperous postcodes in the country, as well as some poorer areas. Together with our colleagues at NHS Surrey and NHS Sutton and Merton, we work to make sure that we deliver the best possible care to the communities we serve.

The Trust employs approximately 5,000 staff across its hospitals and is supported by over 500 volunteers.
