About the Role

As a Transport Worker, you’ll be the driving force behind ensuring children and young people get to school and family time sessions safely and on time. Your role will take you to various locations in and around the City of Salford.

  • Working Hours: 3.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday.
    • Morning Runs: 3.5 hours between 7am and 11am.
    • Afternoon/Evening Runs: 3.5 hours between 2.30pm and 6.30pm.
  • Vacancies: Two 18-hour positions available.

We are flexible in our approach and would be open to job share arrangements, where two post holders can split the week, covering both morning and afternoon transport.i.e 2.5 days per week.

This role demands reliability, the highest standards of safeguarding and professionalism. You’ll ensure children are transported with utmost care and safety. Basic safeguarding knowledge is required, but we provide comprehensive induction and training for successful candidates. Mileage rates also apply for you to claim back the mileage travelled within this role, to support the children and young people we work with.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transport children and young people to and from school and/or family time sessions.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of children during transportation, following safeguarding guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively and empathetically with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Maintain accurate records of journeys, schedules, and any incidents.
  • Collaborate with the Cared for Children’s team to arrange and meet the transport needs of children and young people.

We Welcome Applications From People Who Have:

  • A clean, full UK driving licence, access to their own car, and business insurance.
  • An understanding of safeguarding principles and the ability to apply them in practice.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to connect with children and families.
  • Empathy, understanding, and a child- and family-focused approach to work.

Please be aware that this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and that you will be required to meet the cost of the DBS check currently £49.50. The payment for this will be deducted from your first four months’ salary payments at a rate of £12.38 per month. If you do not commence employment for any reason but the DBS has been processed, you will be sent an invoice for the payment of £49.50.
