Summary

A leading provider of support services for individuals with learning disabilities – committed to empowering individuals to lead fulfilling lives – is seeking a proactive and creative Support Worker to join their team in Warrington.

This key role involves leading the day-to-day operation of a vibrant on-site coffee shop, offering a supportive and engaging environment where individuals with learning disabilities and complex needs can build confidence, develop life skills, and gain real-world hospitality experience. Through hands-on activities such as food preparation, customer service, and cash handling, you will coach and empower learners to increase their independence and pursue personal development goals.

You will also be responsible for managing stock, finances, and in-shop promotions, while leading a team of staff and volunteers to ensure a safe, inclusive, and person-centred experience that reflects the organisation’s values of respect, dignity, and growth.

As the Support Worker, your key responsibilities will include:

* Lead the day-to-day operations of the coffee shop in line with learner development plans, including food preparation, customer service, stock management, and budgeting to ensure value and profitability.
* Support learners in developing practical skills across hospitality, communication, teamwork, and customer service, promoting independence and confidence through structured, hands-on engagement.
* Foster a safe, inclusive, and person-centred environment by embedding safeguarding, health and safety, and dynamic risk assessments into daily activities.
* Plan and deliver seasonal promotions and campaigns, enhancing the coffee shop’s visibility while encouraging learner creativity and involvement.
* Capture and share social media content that highlights learner achievements, promotes community engagement, and showcases the shop’s impact.
* Conduct regular progress reviews for learners and volunteers, maintaining accurate digital and written records to track development and outcomes.
* Mentor and manage volunteers, ensuring they contribute positively to the learning environment and align with the coffee shop’s supportive ethos.
* Encourage learners to explore future pathways such as volunteering, training, or employment, using the coffee shop as a platform for personal growth and enterprise experience.

The Support Worker will have the following skills and attributes:

* Proven experience running or managing a café, coffee shop, or similar customer-facing environment.
* Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities or complex care needs would be a distinct advantage.
* Minimum qualification requirement is a Care Certification (preferably Level 2 or willing to work towards).
* Demonstrated knowledge of safeguarding, the Mental Capacity Act, and inclusive support principles.
* Comfortable and respectful in delivering personal care when required.
* Passion for people development, food service, and community enterprise.

You will be working 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Appointment will be subject to DBS clearance, right to work checks and satisfactory references.
