Summary
Job Title: EMPTY CONTAINER HANDLER
Dept: CONTAINERS
Reports to: DEPOT MANAGER
1. Role Overview
Work as part of the yard team, Liaising with the Depot Manager on prioritising work and customer requests. Communication is essential whilst working within a fast-paced environment. Ensure all aspects of the container traffic movements, are adequately controlled, offloading and loading containers. Repairs bays and steam clean bays are prioritised and regularly turned to ensure repair staff have an adequate workload.
2. Duties & Key Responsibilities:
• General Responsibilities
o Must have held a valid forklift license for at least 12 months and have experience in operating an Empty Container Handler (ECH)
o Previous experience of working in a container storage depot
o Operators would be expected to load and unload empty containers 20’ and 40’ to and from hauliers’ trailers and to be able to stack containers up to 6/7 high within the container storage yard.
o Move containers 20’ and 40’ around storage depot onto repair bays and steam clean bays
o Proven ability to forward plan within a fast paced, demanding and constantly evolving environment.
o The ability to be flexible to cover depot opening hours of 8.00am to 5.30 pm
o Positive attitude.
o Excellent team player
o Good Communication skills
o Liase with yard staff and control staff via two-way radio system
o Remain focused, professional and alert whilst operating ECH machines.
o Comply with all company health and safety policies and procedures
40 HOUR WEEK 8.00am – 4. 30pm Monday – Friday
Overtime to be paid at time and half for any hours worked over 40 hours.
