The role
As an Estimator, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will facilitate the creation and maintenance of multi-trade man hour estimates for resource (labour) and other resource types which are deemed appropriate,

Day-to-day, you'll interpret the work content of the client's maintenance standard and work package specification, using knowledge and experience, referring to the appropriate technical documentation. Further responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring compliance that the estimate complies with the company estimating standard. Discuss, clarify, amend, and record the estimate with guidance from the governance and business operations
  • Consult with the appropriate technical authority (applicable production sections & appropriate technical SQEP) to produce the basis of the estimate, ensuring that engineering LFE is captured and recorded appropriately
  • Provide a timely provision of estimates to the appropriate system owners for creation and amendment to support long, medium and short-range planning processes & procedures
  • Assist Procurement Manager (Fleet Programme) by producing an estimate for comparison with sub-contract quotation ensuring value for money
  • Estimate and substantiate with the Finance / Commercial departments variation / change notices to the baseline cost model (target price), discuss and agree any changes that are required due to modification in the maintenance standards / work package content scope


This role is full time, 36 hours per week Monday-Thursday and is based on site. Hybrid working can be arranged accordingly with Line Manager.

Essential experience of the Estimator

  • Able to interpret work specifications, understanding requirements, set and structure budgets accurately
  • Have strong communication skills and the ability to work with individuals of all levels involved in design change
  • Experience of estimating the cost for design upgrades and submitting them to commercial teams


Qualifications for the Estimator

  • Degree qualified or above in Construction, Engineering or Manufacturing would be advantageous but happy to consider equivalent experience
