Summary

Job Opportunity: Machine Operator

Location: East Kilbride Factory (On-Site)
Department: Machine & Fabrication Workshop
Contract: Full-Time
Working Hours: 39 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
Salary: £35000 - £40000 Depending on experience
Bonus: Eligible for the company's profit-sharing bonus scheme
Pension: Employer will match 5% employee contribution
Holidays: 32 days per year

Job Summary

We are looking for a talented individual to become part of our machine shop team. You should have previous experience working in a similar role, be energetic, and motivated to work on your own initiative or as part of the team.

The role entails the operation of various machine tools with a speciality in conventional horizontal boring. This role will require standard hours to be worked, typically 06:00 to 14:30 Monday to Thursday & 06:00 to 13:30 Friday; however, starting and finishing times can be flexible.

Requirements

To be considered for this role you must have:

  • Previous experience as a machine operator or similar role.

  • Ability to read mechanical detail drawings and understand the machining requirement from these.

  • Skill operating various machine tools.

Experience in the following would offer a distinct advantage:

  • Having used a "Kerns Richard SH75" or similar boring machine.

  • Have a counterbalance forklift truck licence.

  • Ability to operate overhead crane to load & unload parts.

  • Have knowledge of "Safe Working Practice" in a machine shop environment.

Main Duties
  • Specialise in the setup and operation of a conventional horizontal boring machine.

  • Operate various other machine tools: lathe; milling machine; drill etc.

  • Produce component parts from conventional engineering drawings and specifications in a timely manner and to high standards.

  • Work to tight engineering tolerances.

  • Inspect and measure own work throughout the manufacturing process.

  • Assist in the creation of standard working procedures for typical processes.

  • Work as part of a team to contribute to the continuous improvement of the department, via productivity or efficiency improvements.

  • Adhere to good housekeeping practice to ensure all equipment and working areas are kept clean and tidy.
