Summary

Job Title: Phlebotomist (Adults & Paediatrics) Location: Roxbourne Medical Centre, 37 Rayners Lane, south Harrow, HA2 0UE Hours: 1 day per week (7.5 hours) Fixed Term (6 months) Reports to: Practice Manager / Clinical Lead Job Purpose: To provide a high-quality phlebotomy service to adult patients and, where appropriately qualified, to children aged 2 years and over. The post holder will ensure safe and effective collection, labelling, and handling of blood samples while offering a calm and supportive experience for patients of all ages. Key Responsibilities: Perform venepuncture for adults and children aged 2+, where trained and competent Label, record, and prepare blood samples in accordance with NHS procedures Ensure safe handling, storage, and timely dispatch of samples to the laboratory Maintain a clean and safe working environment, observing infection control procedures Reassure and support anxious patients, particularly children and their families Accurately enter patient and sample details into clinical systems Report any concerns or incidents in line with practice policies Maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection standards Work collaboratively with clinical and admin colleagues to support smooth service delivery Participate in ongoing training and supervision as required Person Specification: Essential: Recognised phlebotomy qualification Proven experience in adult venepuncture Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Understanding of infection control and health & safety procedures Ability to work independently and as part of a team Desirable: Qualification/competency to bleed children aged 2 and over Experience working in a GP surgery or community setting Knowledge of NHS clinical systems - emis
