We have branches in Harlow, Warrington, Saltney, Chester and Hull, so our furniture hire services easily cover the whole of the UK. Our company has been trading for almost 30 years and employs over 70 staff nationwide. Our client list is vast, and we regularly provide hire furniture for major sporting events, TV shows, festivals, international conferences, banquets and weddings.
The Transport Manager should take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the company Transport fleet ensuring that all vehicle maintenance and service checks are up-to-date, driver records are maintained, and we fully comply with all legislation relating to transport issues. Communication is key to the smooth running of the Transport Dept, together with a good knowledge of Health & Safety legislation.
Primary responsibilities
Managing all aspects of the Transport Department.
Ensure compliance with DVSA and DVLA
Management of all issues relating to the “Operators Licence”.
Maximise Vehicle Utilisation
Plan routes to meet customer KPI’s and maintain drivers’ hours legislation.
Ensure all drivers brief/ de-brief completed daily.
Maintain live traffic management system.
React to changing situations to accommodate additional business and maximise service performance and reduce delays.
Create solutions for customer needs and requirements.
Liaising with the Warehouse Manager to fulfil orders (quality control)
Managing and training staff (HR elements including disciplinary, recruitment and performance reviews)
Managing driver records, including the recording of driving PCN and infringement then act according when necessary.
Maintaining standards of health and safety, hygiene and security in the workplace
Assisting with the annual budget forecast for overheads of the department
Record all vehicle maintenance costs and provide reports when required.
Transport Administration (Vehicle Insurance, MOT, service etc)
Ensure all planned maintenance is carried out on all vehicles.
Informing Managing Director of legislative changes
· Developed and maintained relationships with transportation vendors, negotiating contracts that resulted in a reduction in transportation costs.
· Developed and implemented transportation operations policies and procedures.
· Analysed and optimized transportation routes and schedules.
· Monitored and managed the performance of transportation staff.
· Monitored and analysed customer feedback and complaints.
· Downloading Drivers Card and Tacho onto Systems.
· Manage conditions of the vehicles (PMI, MOT’s Repairs etc.)
· PCN Fines if caused by Driver/Porter to be investigated and loan deduction forms signed and returned to Payroll.
· Check on Drivers/Porters Uniform
· On Call for Transport Queries, this may include calls over the weekend from customers.
· Dealing with out of hours transport issues.
· Booking/raising Purchase Orders for Deliveries and Collections.
The role of the Transport Manager CPC Holder whether as an External or Internal Transport Manager CPC Holder is as per legislation (EC) 1071/2009, makes it a mandatory for all holders of a standard national or international operator licence to have a suitably qualified person of good repute to act as the nominated Transport Manager CPC Holder on their operator licence and that this person must have “continuous and effective control and is required to have a proactive role with the operator” for the management of transport operations within the operator licence holder’s business.
