Summary
Clinical Practice To practice within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and adhere to this at all times To promote childrens well-being and safeguard them from potential or actual harm To assess, plan and evaluate individualised programmes of care to children and young people in partnership with the patient, their carers and the multi-disciplinary team using a family centred approach to care. To support and assist in the health education of patients and their families To ensure care is delivered in accordance with latest evidence based practice guidelines To ensure that patients receive high quality clinical care and a good patient experience, having regard for their customs, religious beliefs and doctrines Recognise and avoid situations that may be detrimental to the health and wellbeing of the individuals Recognise the significance of observations made, and use them to develop and initiate nursing assessments and devise a plan of care To ensure that patients and parents/carers are informed as appropriate and consent is obtained according to current policy To maintain up to date and comprehensive records of care in accordance with NMC, Trust and legal requirements To maintain patient confidentiality at all times To practice within the Unit philosophy To support junior colleagues, students, and visitors to the department Education and Research To assist in the teaching and practice development of junior colleagues and students To demonstrate the use of information and research findings to support and promote evidence based practice within the clinical area To participate in research and audit within the unit To assist in setting up protocols and guidelines to enhance best practice To assist in auditing of these protocols and guidelines To participate in Trust and Care Group initiatives to develop nursing practice.
