1 x 15 hours/week (2 days); 1 x 18.75 hours/week (2 ½ days)

3% employer pension contribution
Annual Leave
25 days FTE per annum, pro rata, plus Bank Holidays (currently 8 per annum) pro rata.
3 concessionary days taken between Christmas and New Year
Purpose of the Post
The Dementia Support Worker will be responsible for supporting people living with dementia, their families and volunteers at the Beacon Shed at the Whitaker and on occasions when the team are working within the Rossendale community. The Beacon Shed is a multi-function community space, nestled at the rear of the Whitaker Museum and Art Gallery, which has been designed to enable adults of all ages and abilities to participate in a variety of creative and social activities at their own pace in a supportive and dementia-friendly environment. A major part of the role is to learn and understand people’s needs, life stories and wishes to enhance their health and wellbeing and to provide activities which are meaningful to them.
This role is funded by The National Lottery and you will work as part of a small team of staff and volunteers to deliver the Beacon Shed service and meet funding outcomes. You will develop and implement an activity plan, keeping accurate notes and producing reports which may be shared internally with the Beacon board of trustees and externally with funding bodies. You will need the ability to work at all times in a safe manner, bearing in mind the abilities and interests of all Participants. This will include completing risk assessment documentation as part of activity planning; keeping these under review and responding to any safeguarding concerns in line with Beacon’s Safeguarding Policy.
You will also work with local partners and team members to gather monitoring, feedback and data which will contribute to the research and evaluation of Beacon services.
You will need excellent communication skills and will use these to network and develop professional relationship with families and health and social care partners/organisations.

The post holder is accountable to the Dementia Project Co-ordinator.
The post holder is responsible for overseeing the work and wellbeing of the Shed volunteers.

As this post involves working with vulnerable adults, this post is subject to a satisfactory check by the Disclosure and Barring Service.
Duties and responsibilities
To work with Beacon’s team members to create and develop a project work plan which meets the needs of the people receiving our service and our funding outcomes.
To work safely with participants, ensuring information about them is kept up to date, only shared with people who need to know and is kept in line with GDPR requirements and remains confidential.
To keep accurate and timely records of activities undertaken by participants and observations of their impact.
To administer and organise own work to ensure that it is accurate and meets quality targets, reasonable deadlines, and reporting requirements.
To take part in evaluation activities, including and consulting with people who come into our services and working with local partner.
To work with the team to recruit, induct and support volunteers, including supporting their development and wellbeing.
When required, to attend community events, fundraising and partner meetings
To adhere to all Beacon Dementia and Wellbeing policies and procedures.
To have a range of IT skills i.e.be able to use outlook, word, power point, excel and understand SharePoint and OneDrive folders.
To undertake any other tasks, duties or projects which may arise from time to time which are commensurate with the general level of this post and as directed by the board of trustees.
