Summary
Perform venepuncture on patients of all ages, ensuring patient comfort and safety. Maintain accurate records of blood samples collected and ensure proper labelling for identification. Utilise appropriate medical terminology when communicating with healthcare professionals and patients. Work collaboratively with laboratory staff to ensure efficient processing of samples. Adhere to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques during all procedures. Provide basic life support when necessary and assist in emergency situations. Educate patients about the blood collection process, addressing any concerns or questions they may have. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the work area, ensuring all equipment is properly sterilised and stored. Participate in ongoing training and development to stay current with best practices in phlebotomy. At end of shift take samples to RPH or CDH as agreed with the lab.
